Helen of Troy

For my Dragonide girl,

They say Helen of Troy possessed a beauty so extraordinary

that thousand ships sails to war for her.

Kings abandoned their peace,

warriors surrendered their lives,

and an entire city burned beneath the weight of her beauty.

Yet I cannot help but wonder,

my lady,

what would those ancient kings have done

if they had laid their eyes upon you?

For Helen inspired men to conquer kingdoms.

But you have inspired something far more dangerous within me,

the desire to become a better man.

And perhaps that is the difference between beauty and love.

Beauty may convince thousand men to fight for a woman,

but love convinces one man to spend his entire life

making sure she never has to fight alone.

For I would rather build a thousand peaceful tomorrows beside you

than conquer a thousand kingdoms without you.
