Aether: The Upper Air and the Light

Before the cosmos came into being, there was Aether. He wasn’t just a god—he was the air itself. The light that bathed the heavens. The breath that filled the void. He was the very essence of brightness, the pure sky that stretched across the realms. Where there was darkness, Aether shone.

Born from Chaos

Aether was born from Chaos, just like the rest of the primordial gods. No parents, no beginning. He just was. A force of pure energy and light. From him, the universe would find its clarity. Where there was murk, Aether brought radiance.

The God of Light

Aether wasn’t just a vague concept. He ruled the upper air, the heavenly realms where the gods dwelled. While Erebus, the god of darkness, governed the shadowy parts of the world, Aether reigned over the bright, upper parts—the part of the sky where the gods would float, distant from mortal hands. He was the breath of life for the gods, the divine atmosphere they breathed in.

Son of Erebus and Nyx

Aether had mysterious but powerful parents - Erebus and Nyx , the embodiment of night and darkness. And he had a sister - Hemera, the goddess of day. While Hemera brought the dawn, Aether stood as the god of pure light, of the upper air that divided the day from the night. Aether’s realm was where the gods lived, untouched by the darkness below.

Aether in the Cosmos

Aether didn’t have a throne or a big temple. He didn’t need one. His light was everywhere, spreading across the heavens. He was the air the gods breathed, the atmosphere that kept the world in balance. Without him, there would be no bright sky, no pure daylight to break the endless dark.

Aether was the beginning of everything that shone, the brightness before the sun was born, the light before the stars. He was the god of all that was pure and radiant, bringing clarity to the world and illuminating the path of the divine.

The Ever-Present Light

Even now, Aether’s legacy remains. He is the light that shines from the heavens above, the same light that we see each day as the sun rises. Aether didn’t need to be worshipped in grand temples, because his essence was in everything. In every sunrise. In every breath of fresh air.

Aether was the first light. The pure breath of the sky. And, in a way, he still is.
